Secret Santa Fun

on December 23, 2015

It’s t-minus 1-day until Christmas Eve! How’s the shopping going? I hope you’ve wrapped,

baked, ribbon-ed and bowed to your hearts content.. that would make at least one of us!

When I was a young girl, it was all I could do not to open all of my presents the moment
they appeared under the Christmas tree. There may or may not have even been a time
when I opened a present as carefully as I could, and then re-wrapped it so as to hide that I
had done so. I may or may not have then taped (showing my age!) myself telling my sister
what I found when I allegedly opened said presents – a recording my mother would then
stumble upon and listen to months after Christmas. It was a sickness.

Today, I’d love to say I’ve recovered, but I’m just older. Plus, I wrap most of the
presents around here, which takes the edge off my need to know what’s inside.

So, what do you think I might have said when I was invited by the lovely Sara
of ShabbyGrace Blog to participate, along with a group of some of my most favorite and
admired bloggers, in a Secret Santa gift exchange? This ensured I’d be opening gifts early!
If you’re me, you stand up and yell “where do I sign up!?”
For those of you living on Mars who may not be familiar with the concept of a Secret Santa
gift exchange, let me explain.
Se·cret San·ta
an arrangement in which a group of friends or colleagues exchange Christmas presents
anonymously, each member of the group being assigned another member for whom to
provide a small gift, typically costing a set amount.
My Secret Santa was none other than Amy from My Life From Home
My Gifts! SO cute!
I was ecstatic to receive her package and you can rest assured I tore that sucker open the moment it arrived! I was so excited to find Amy’s Amy Sara, because I can’t read blog information inside!  I’m a huge fan of her blog and many of her projects.
Amy Sara, because I can’t read is a former teacher who now homeschools her oldest daughter and blogs (fabulously I might add) from home. Some of my favorite posts of hers include one on the day in the life of a homeschooler. As a fellow homeschooler, it’s always fun for me to compare our day to others in our position. I also really enjoyed her post on her lack of a green thumb. I also have a brown thumb. Through this post, and the tips Sara included, I think I may have the courage to attempt killing growing plants again! My favorite decorating related post though was her screened-in porch reveal – which included both new features and old re-purposes. This post inspired so many ideas that I hope to include in my own sunroom this coming summer! I do hope you’ll check out her blog. I know you’ll find something inspiring as well!
It sounds silly, but I was madly in love with this Christmas twine that pulled all of my gifts together.

All of these fun items came just in time to have a starring role in my post on my festive Master Bedroom on the recent Holiday Homes Blog Hop

The tray is the perfect size for a Holiday Breakfast for one!

The twine that I love so much found a new home as a garland for the mirror!
Photo bombed by my own hand!
The reindeer has been moved to my tree, where it is enjoying all the glitter and gleam of the season. The oven mitt is working overtime in my kitchen, along with my new salt and pepper shakers. The tray has since worn many hats, serving as a cookie decorating station and a hot chocolate station. On Christmas Eve I plan to serve up an assortments of desserts in it – I can’t wait.
I can’t thank Santa Sara enough – the gifts were wonderful and I’ve so enjoyed getting to know your blog. I also would like to thank Sara @ for putting together this event. It’s been beyond fun!
If you’re curious, you can check out the gifts I sent to my Secret Santa gift-ee by visiting Heather at The Dean’s List Blog
Ho Ho Ho and a Merry Christmas to all of you! May Santa be good to you!
